It's not a surprise to people who have taken West Virginia family vacations that The New River Gorge is listed in Frommer's 500 Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up, but it's great to know that information is out there for the rest of the world to see.  The New River Gorge is listed at number 409, under Cycling for the spectacular mountain biking available along the New River. 

Mountain Biking is listed as the prime activity (and a prime one it is!) but also recommended is exploration of cultural and historic sites such as Thurmond Depot, famed coaling mining train hub of the early 1900s.   Kaymoor Mine site is another place to learn more about - it was once one of the most productive coal mines in the region.  And don't forget the New River Bridge - an architectural gem that seems to simply float over the New River Gorge.
